Marketing and Communications Policy

Marketing and Communications Policy (Email, SMS, Reviews, Social Media, Advertising)
Version 0.1.0 · draft · NO EFFECTIVE DATE SET

Booking confirmations and reminders

The confirmation and reminder messages you get from Square when you book with me only facilitate that appointment. They do not carry promotions, offers, or anything else, and that is a deliberate line, not an oversight.

Asking for reviews

I ask clients to leave a review freely — a printed card at checkout, a QR code, a thank-you email. I never offer a discount, a reward, or an entry into anything in exchange for a review, positive or otherwise.

Photos, testimonials, and likeness

I never publish a client's name, photograph, or testimonial for advertising or promotional purposes without a separate, standalone media release signed (or given orally, on the record) beforehand. Signing that release is never a condition of receiving services. It can be revoked for future use at any time by writing to hello@maureensmassage.com.

Social media

My business social media accounts are kept separate from any personal accounts. I engage with comments rather than deleting the ones I disagree with, unless they are abusive or spam. My posts describe what I actually do, in plain and accurate terms, without exaggerated or misleading claims — I use "therapeutic massage" and technique-specific language such as deep tissue, myofascial release, or trigger point therapy, never a "medical" framing. Any clearly promotional post that names the business carries the same license block described in MK-11.

License information in advertising

Every advertisement for this practice — the website, the Google Business Profile, social media, Square listings and promotions, and any reply to a review that promotes the business — carries my license number, MA78217. Where the advertisement names me individually, it also states my license type: Licensed Massage Therapist.

No advertisement for this practice states or implies that I hold a massage establishment license, and none presents the premises where I work as licensed to me. They are not.

The marketing-use release

Using anything about a client for marketing — a testimonial, a before/after description, a name in a case study — requires a separate written release, signed before that use, never folded into intake paperwork.
